Még egy warlock killing guide
Warlocks are rather difficult encounters for inexperienced raids, but if you follow these simple guidelines the fight should be pretty easy after a couple of wipes.
Preparation: Bring the usual raid set for your class, plus a good Fire resistance and Shadow resistance suit. Any trinket that breaks fear or seduce is extremely useful. A seasoned group of 40 players will take down the Warlock very easily. He has been beaten by a fully epic’d team of 6! Rumors have been heard about shadow-priests able to solo him, but don’t trust forum hoaxes. Just prepare well and follow the tactics, no need to johnwayne and wipe.
During Phase 1, the Warlock will not use many abilities. His add is almost indestructible (a sort of blue elemental). It will wander around trying to interrupt healers, but won’t hurt much. You can safely ignore it and concentrate on the Warlock (periodically, the Warlock will use his Robe of the Void and fully heal the blue demon, so really, don’t bother trying to kill it, it’s hopeless).
It is vital that rogues, mages and warriors interrupt his casting at all times, since he can cast a Soulfire spell that will one-shoot all but the strongest warriors. The key to Phase 1 is to force the Warlock to sacrifice his add by bringing his health under 30% - twice. This is not easy since most of the damage that is dealt is absorbed by the indestructible blue add. The first time he reaches 30%, he uses a Health Stone that will heal him entirely. There is nothing to do about it, just bring him quickly again under 30% within the cooldown of the Health Stone, which is 2 minutes.
Phase 2 is much quicker but more dangerous than Phase 1. It starts when the Warlock sacrifices the blue demon. He becomes totally immune to any attack for a short period of time. He summons then an invisible demon that needs to be killed as soon as possible. The demon has 2 abilities: it can Seduce a single target, and has an AoE Wigglebutt ability that may distract the whole raid. The Seduced target is basically out of combat until the demon is killed. The wigglebutted raid members loose casting time, forget to use their class abilities, and can be considered liabilities to the raid while they are not dispelled. The raid leader must cast a Yell/Scream or ThreatDKP as soon as possible. If the Scream is resisted by too many members, or if the raid leader himself is wigglebutted, it is a wipe. That is because the Warlock gets busy during that time. Even if rogues, warriors and mages keep doing a good job at interrupting, he has a number of instant spells that will seriously hinder the raid. Warriors and rogues will be cursed with weakness, making their attack powerless. Mages and healers will be under Curse of Tongue, which will slow their cast time almost to a standstill. It is very important that no player under Curse of Tongue gives any tactical order, since they will speak demonic, therefore informing the Warlock of the sekrit plans. Every other member of the raid will be under both Corruption and Curse of Agony, which drains their health steadily to a certain death if they are not dispelled (it is impossible to use bandages under Corruption or Curse of Agony!). Every minute, one raid member will die from Curse of Doom, tranforming the dead player into a Doomguard that will start killing recklessly. There is nothing to do about it, use a druid’s combat resurrection if it hits a key raid member, and dispatch the Doomguard as soon as possible. Every two minutes, the Warlock will use a Health Stone and go back to full health.
Fortunately, the Warlock does not have the blue demon to soak damage anymore. So if the raid leader’s Scream passes, if the demon is killed fast, and if the curses are dispelled quickly enough, then the warlock should be brought down to 30% health with reasonable ease. BE SURE TO KILL THE DEMON BEFORE HE REACHES 30%, otherwise, he will sacrifice the demon and get a huge boost of damage that will apply to all curses and corruptions, ending in a wipe.
At 30% health, Phase 3 starts. The Warlock will cast an AoE fear that will send everyone running away. That will give him time to summon Caster’s Bane, a demon that looks like a cross between a dog and a porcupine. This add is by far the NASTIEST of the whole fight. It cannot be killed at all. It will start dispelling every single buff of every single raid member, one by one, getting back to full health each time. DO NOT DEBUFF THE WARLOCK. Caster’s Bane will then dispel that debuff and go back to full health. It will silence casters regularly, choosing healers first. Casters should never attack it because he has huge magic resistances to all schools, plus if ever the spell passes, he can dispel it and go back to full health. Physical attacker should not attack it either! Every time they hit him, their attack power will decrease, and that effect stacks. After 5 attacks, the rogue or warrior becomes totally useless for the rest of the fight.
The strategy is quite simple: all focus on direct damage to the warlock, max DPS, squeeze everything, just scream all you have, except NO debuffs whatsoever, no DoT, no HoT, nothing that can feed Caster’s Bane. Ignore the demon, even though it wrecks havoc in the raid, while the warlock keeps up all the curses and corruptions and goes back to full health every 2 minutes. That phase is chaotic, but if all focus, the warlock will be brought down to 30% quickly enough to limit the damage of Caster’s Bane. The longer that phase lasts, the higher the chances that you will wipe.
If all goes well, Phase 4 starts when the warlock is forced to sacrifice Caster’s Bane. He will then use a special trick, summoning instantly the same blue demon he had in phase 1. If by terrible bad luck the Health Stone timer is already up, he will go back to full health and the encounter is reset to phase one. If the Health Stone is not up, the warlock will immediately sacrifice the blue demon to get a total immunity, long enough for him to summon a seemingly weakling: the Imp. That one is not impressive at all… but the point of this demon is to increase the warlock’s health by a huge amount! While still under the immunity of the sacrifice of the blue demon, he will life drain raid members to regain back a monstrous amount of health. It is impossible to kill the imp and remove the warlock’s health buff, it is phased shifted. The good news is that, while phased shifted, the imp is mostly harmless. I say mostly, because he will verbally taunt the raid with his Tease ability. Unlike Wigglebutt, Tease is easily resisted and should not cause any problem to a raid capable of reaching phase 4.
Phase 4 is a competition between the raid’s damage delivery and the warlock’s healing speed. The Warlock will cast Curse of Shadow and Siphon Life on every single raid member. This is similar to Hakkar’s life drain, except that it is permanent, much weaker, and the poison trick does not work. Also he will choose randomly a victim and leech his life via a spell that will kill the target within 5 seconds if not interrupted (rogues/mages/warriors be alert). If the warlock goes back over 90% health, he will resume casting the corruptions, agonies, and curses of doom of phases 2 and 3, so it is very important that the raid adopts a steady and sustainable DPS that ensures that the warlock’s health does not oscillate but goes down at all times, especially since every 2 minutes he will use a Health Stone that will bump his health back up by a serious amount.
When the warlock's health is at 10%, he becomes enraged. The imp will get out of phase shift and start machine gunning fireballs everywhere. The warlock will run into the middle of the group and suicide himself with Hellfire. As soon as CTRA broadcasts the enraged emote, run. RUN, anywhere, everywhere. The key is to be scattered and keep moving. Do not kill the imp, the major danger is the Hellfire.
When the Warlock dies, the imp disappears. Yay!!? NO! The raid leader MUST remind everyone NOT TO CHEER YET, since Phase 5 is about to start. There is a very short period of time when you can resurrect the dead (out of combat). This is the TOP priority! All players able to resurrect should do so immediately, right as the global message of the Warlock’s death is broadcast. Prepare ahead of time a priority list of who should be resurrected at that stage, since there is no time to discuss the best choice. The Warlock will use his Soul Stone 5 seconds after his death, bringing him back to life, at full health and mana. He will instantly summon a blue demon and the encounter will cycle back to Phase 1.
During the second cycle, the exact same tactic should be applied, there will be no variation. The raid is usually depleted during this second cycle by the toll taken during the first cycle. Still, you must stay focused, since the second cycle MUST be completed within the timer of the Soul Stone, which is 30 minutes. If the raid cannot complete the second cycle in 30 minutes, the Warlock will be able to start a third cycle, etc.
